When I first purchased the painting, I had no idea who the artist is. In doing some research I learned this is the work of important Spanish artist Francisco Garcia Gomez (1936-2012). Unfortunately, the only real biography I can find about the artist is from a doctoral thesis written at the University of Sevilla back in 2015. I tried translating as much of it as could but it was rather extensive. You can easily find it on google and do your own translation. The artist seems to be a rather important mid century Spanish artist. He studied, won awards, and had exhibitions throughout Europe from the 1950s onward. There are quite a few auction records of similar type works having sold in Europe. It seems like only a few have ever made it over here to the United States. This is a wonderful tempera on paper view of 3 women. The image measures 19 x 31 1/2 inches. Signed and dated lower right corner. Overall the painting is in good condition. The white painted background shows some scuffs and markings but still is mostly clean. The woman themselves are clean and in good shape. The woman on the left has the red on the image that looks like it was painted that way as it shows only on that way on the actual portrait and not anywhere on the background. Really overall an excellent mid century Spanish painting. In original matte and frame with no glass. Really needs a new presentation and then it would be a stunning addition to any collection or decor. Happy to take it out of the frame to ship for less, particularly to Europe. Frame measures 25 x 37 inches. See less
