Set of two black lacquered rattan lounge chairs by Arne Norell, Sweden.
Attractive transparent design thanks to the open rattan construction. Combined with the black glossy finish, this creates a refined quality. The design relates to Scandinavian modernism and shows affinities with designs by CFC Silkeborg and Børge Mogensen.
Well suited to Japandi interiors as well as eclectic or 1980s settings.
Condition; The rattan webbing is intact, the black finish looks great with normal marks and the construction is solid. Upholstery shows wear consistent with age.
There are no back cushions. The chairs are still quite comfortable as is, but cushions would add extra support. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
