vitra. The eames tandem seating group / tandem shell seating system airport bench was designed by ray and charles eames in 1963 and was an extension of the already popular commercial seating options for the fiberglass arm and side chairs.

* extremely rare example: this tandem version with beige fiberglass shells is extremely rare due to its naugahyde leather upholstery (naugahyde is an american brand of synthetic leather) in a fir green/deep green color. We strongly suspect it is naugahyde leather, but it could also be genuine leather.

* robust system for comfortable and relaxed seating.

* designed to withstand heavy use (solid steel frame + polished aluminum feet).

* this bench likely dates from the 1960s or 1970s.

condition
good and well-maintained vintage condition, with the usual—but not serious—typical signs of age and use on the chrome, metal, fiberglass, and leather surfaces.

* the leather surface is generally in above-average condition with a superficial scratch on one seat shell (a small cut—visible in one of the photos above).

* the chrome has some minor and typical chips and imperfections.
