This is a sweeping cultural history exploring the shared roots and complex identity of South American civilization, linking Spain and the Americas from ancient times to the modern day, using mirrors as a metaphor for reality, imagination, and the reflection of history found in art, literature, and people, ultimately celebrating the rich, diverse heritage forged by the fusion of indigenous, European, and African cultures despite political crises. It was also a PBS documentary series narrated by Fuentes. Only very few of the early editions published in numerous languages include the images and illustrations of this edition. There is a signature in the front endpaper in black, but we are unable to verify whether this is authentic.
