An original American landscape etching by Lyman Byxbe, Bear Lake and Trail presents a peaceful lakeside path set against a backdrop of forest and distant mountain peaks. The balanced composition and reflective water surface exemplify Byxbe’s sensitive approach to Western scenery and his skillful handling of etched line.
Signed and titled in pencil, this work dates to Byxbe’s most active period during the 1920s–1930s, when his prints were widely exhibited and collected. The etching is attractively housed in a period oak frame with a wide cream mat, consistent with early-20th-century presentation.
