Beautiful jizai okimono of a large shrimp. Wonderfully detailed with an articulated body and legs, this realistic piece exemplifies the extraordinary craftsmanship and expertise of traditional Japanese metalworking. The making of jizai okimono flourished during peaceful periods in Japan, particularly in the Edo and Meiji periods. Master craftsman shifted from making samurai armor to beautiful and intricate objects for beauty and contemplation.
This piece is signed Hiromi Fujiwara and comes with a pine tomobako.
