The Orkney chair has an oak frame supporting a back in the style of handwoven straw wingback.
The wooden base with straight and splayed legs is connected with stretchers and armrests with scrolled ends and is housing a removable rush seat.
These chairs, for adults or children, were meant to protect the sitting person against the rough and cold winds of the North Sea.
The chair is in good condition with beautiful patina. The frame is sturdy and the straw is in solid condition.
