Solid wood construction with original aged finish and beautiful, honest patina developed over generations of use. The back slats retain traces of early decorative painted detailing, visible beneath the original black finish. The chair retains its original cane seat, which shows age-appropriate wear including a single puncture at the front center, consistent with long-term use. The chair is sturdy and stable, with smooth rocking motion and well-balanced proportions.
An excellent example of early American children’s furniture, ideal for farmhouse, primitive, or traditional interiors. Unrestored and not a reproduction.
