Item :
Pair of figurines in fine white hard-paste porcelain (Blanc de Chine), depicting a peasant man and a peasant woman, both signed under the base with the ancient underglaze blue mark of the Royal House of Ferdinand of Naples, dating to the second half of the 18th century.
Useful information for appraising this item:
The two figurines represent a classic example of the earliest figurines first made by the Royal House of Ferdinand, and later by Capodimonte, which primarily featured, in their earliest productions, either noble ladies and dandies in 18th-century dress or, as in this case, small, popular sculptures depicting the various most common professions of the time. Two very antique objects of the highest artistic quality, for art lovers and collectors.
Final Considerations on the Object:
The quality of the porcelain mixture and vitrification is excellent, thanks to the use of a porcelain rich in kaolin and feldspars of the highest quality. Notice how the two sculptures appear to be made of wax, a characteristic only of older porcelain from the 1700s. The patina covering the two objects is excellent, especially under the base, clearly confirming our dating. There are also firing cracks at the base of the tree trunk on which the farmer is standing, a characteristic of porcelain from the 1700s. This piece has an attribution mark,
