The iconic lc4 adjustable chaise longue by cassina, italy, is crafted in a classic design with a chrome-plated tubular steel frame, a black lacquered steel base, and an elastic reclining surface made of rubber-coated steel springs, complemented by a loose black leather cushion. The smoothly curved shape of the reclining surface precisely follows the contours of the body and can be infinitely adjusted, creating the characteristic floating sensation and exceptional comfort. The combination of materials—gleaming chrome-plated tubular steel, technically inspired springs, and soft leather upholstery—perfectly embodies the functional luxury of classic modernism. The rubber-coated elastic springs, the sewn-in cassina label, and the absence of an engraved serial number indicate that this is an original cassina production from the 1970s or early 1980s. the lc4 was designed by le corbusier in collaboration with pierre jeanneret and charlotte perriand. Developed in 1928, this design is considered one of the most important chaise longues of the 20th century and exemplifies the designers' approach of conceiving furniture strictly from the perspective of the human body and its movements. The lc4 was intentionally designed as a relaxation machine and combines technical precision with timeless elegance.
condition: good to very good used condition with age-related wear. The leather displays a beautiful, even patina with slight creases and pressure marks, but no tears. The chrome plating shows only very minor signs of age and use; overall, it is in very well-maintained and authentic original condition. The construction is stable, and all functions are fully intact.
