A bold and stylised mid century still life in oil, painted onto board and dated 1955.

Blending cubist and modernist influences, the composition is defined by strong, simplified shapes and vivid colour blocking, creating a playful yet structured visual experience. The painting features an arrangement of classic still life elements including a pitcher, a teapot, bottles, a cup, and several round red fruits. Bright green leaves sprawl across the foreground, adding organic curves against the sharper forms behind them.

These pops of vibrant red in the fruit and rich green in the leaves create striking contrast. A triangular beam of yellow light or background wall shape adds dynamic energy and depth to the scene.

The shadows are bold and geometric, not naturalistic, adding a graphic design-like quality that emphasises form over realism.

This painting embraces a modernist abstraction of still life, similar in spirit to the work of Fernand Léger or early Picasso. It feels both playful and calculated, as if each shape is carefully placed like pieces in a visual puzzle.
