Striking vintage ceramic trinket box produced using an Atlantic Mold, finished in a rich turquoise glaze with clean, architectural lines. The box features a rectangular form with stepped detailing and a subtly molded decorative motif along the sides, giving it a strong mid-century modern presence.
Atlantic Mold Company, founded in 1957 in South Carolina, became one of the most influential ceramic mold producers in the United States. Their molds were widely used by studio potters, hobbyists, and small workshops from the 1950s through the 1970s, resulting in pieces that blend standardized forms with highly individual glazes and finishes. Because the final glazing and firing were done by hand, no two Atlantic Mold pieces are exactly alike.
The vivid turquoise glaze on this example pools beautifully across the surface, highlighting the molded geometry and lending the box a sculptural, design-forward quality. It works equally well as a jewelry box, desk accessory, or decorative object for shelves or consoles.
