Imperial Candlewick Champagne Glasses - (Coupe Style) Glasses are often referred to as Boopie glasses due to bubble shapes around the edge of their bases.
Very fun & rare they are 4-3/8" wide at top opening. This is a set of vintage champagne coupes by Imperial Glass in the unique CANDLEWICK pattern. These rare glasses were produced from 1943-1967. They are in excellent condition without flaws. The blown glass bell-shaped bowl is attached to a pressed foot with bubble like glass pieces attached to base.
On a sidenote: The coupe style of champagne glass was the popular choice from the 1930s to the 1960s. It was popularized at the end of the Prohibition at the Stork Club in New York. In the 1960s to the present the flute style glass became the more typical one used but the coupe champagne shape is very much in demand due to fact that most manufacturers no longer produce the coupe shape due to its higher production costs.
