Swedish oak ladies’ writing desk or secretary featuring a Bombay-curved lower chest with three drawers. The side panels are carved with an X motif, and the case rests on a scalloped skirt with shaped feet. An earlier blue-gray painted finish was later painted white and subsequently scraped, revealing layered paint surfaces, exposed oak, and signs of long use.
Each of the three drawers opens with two iron ring pulls. Central heart-shaped escutcheons remain in place; locks no longer function, and one key is included for use as a pull. The desktop opens on hinges and reveals an interior that was painted white at a later time, fitted with four petite drawers and additional storage compartments.
Drawer bottoms show typical age-related separation, staining, and residual signs of old dried wormhole activity. Small nicks/sections are missing from the feet, which do not impact function. Restored, strong, stable, and ready for use, this desk offers both character and practical storage in a compact form.
