The attached chain allows the box lid to remain open while peeking inside. The lid is hinged at the back by cloth and the cloth is fragile so I would be careful when opening (it is still attached and you have the chain). All of the shells are still intact. The felt bottom and lining is bright and free of damage or stains with only minimal signs of wear to be expected from age.
