The back rest and seat are hand carved from a single piece of wood. We added minimalist legs and small butterfly details inlaid into the seat section and smoothed out the natural hole. Both usable and sculptural. Full dimensions; 18" deep x 16.5" narrowing to 14" wide x 10" seat height x back rest 14" high. This chair or side table were sourced in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
