These substantial "pricket" candlesticks will make a statement on any mantel or table: tall, slender forms on tripod bases are mounted with their original wrought iron spikes and their baluster silhouettes are decorated with Classical (and subtle Louis XVI) patterns. Stylized leaves, fluting, and festooned motifs are highlighted by the rich gold leaf finish now aged to a soft patina. Note that as the pair would have been against the altar and not seen in the round, they are not entirely gilded to save resources so one vertical strip on the backside appears more of a burnt sienna than gold.
