It took its name from the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris.

Representing a shift toward technological progress and speed, it influenced architecture, design, fashion, and jewelry between World War I and World War II. A sleeker form of the style appeared in the 1930s called Streamline Moderne, featuring curing forms and smooth, polished surfaces such as this piece of lighting.

This chandelier looks as if it could come from the "space age", with its modern silhouette and composition of metal with frosted glass, and warm orange bulb fixtures. See less
