Who but the Japanese, brilliant designers and craftspersons that they are, could create such a brilliant, eye-arresting gem such as this?!
You can't see it in the photos, but the black background is itself festooned with hexagonal and other geometric patterns. They are fully visible when you're viewing this piece in person.
In excellent condition, no issues. This appears to have only been used lightly and gently if at all.
The colors of the hexagons are truly dazzling! The gold threaded areas accentuate the other colors quite majestically.
This extremely long silk fabric measures about 13 feet 9 inches long, 12 side to side. It's supple and "delicious" to the touch. There are 11 of the colorful hexagons on the black background.
My presumption is that this piece was created between 40 and 80 years ago.
