This striking mid-century sculptural bust is a rare, high-polished edition of the iconic "Head of a Young Woman" by celebrated Vietnamese modernist Nguyen Thanh Le (1919–2006). While the original design hails from 1950s Saigon, this specific example was cast by the renowned Siam Bronze (S.P.) foundry in Thailand during the 1960s—the golden era of Southeast Asian luxury exports.
Unlike the rougher, dark-patina castings often found on the market, this piece features the foundry’s signature Nickel Bronze composition, prized for its brilliant, champagne-gold luster that resists tarnishing. The result is a sculpture that perfectly bridges the gap between soulful Indochine artistry and the high-glamour aesthetic of Hollywood Regency design.
Why We Love It:
The stylized chignon and serene expression are pure 1930s Art Deco revival, but the mirror-polished finish makes it a standout "jewelry" piece for a lacquered console or malachite table.
Attribution Marks:
Stamped with the "S.P." hallmark and profile cipher of the Siam Bronze foundry on the reverse.
