The Pop Art serigraph print is a page from a large format fine art calendar of Mid Century Modern serigraph prints published by Dumont Art, printed in an unnumbered limited edition in West Germany in 1970, in association with Universe Books New York City. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1967 titled " Marilyn ", Vorlage : Galerie Der Spiegel, Koln, copyright : Leo Castelli Gallery, New York.

Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.

Warhol's " Marilyn " 1967, is from one of the artist's most sought after and acclaimed portfolio series. Set against a background of deep turquoise teal blue green, this Pop Art portrait is feminine, bold, and iconic. The image is based on Gene Korman's photograph of the starlet, a promotional photo for the 1953 film noir Niagara. The bold coloration of the artwork recalls the saturated hues of the technicolor world in which Marilyn Monroe's career skyrocketed. The result is an inspiring exploration of the symbol of Marilyn Monroe as a Pop icon and cultural figure.

The rare out of print framed Mid Century Modern serigraph calendar print measures 23" W X 29 1/2" H X 1 3/8" D.

It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass, presented in a top mounted presentation on a turquoise teal matt board, in a Contemporary Modern recessed beveled detail matte eggshell finish teal turquoise blue wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The calendar print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor wear.
