A Antique Pennsylvania Folk Art Iron and Brass Hog Scraper Candle Stick, Circa 1830's
Probably made in Pennsylvania, circa 1830-1860's
Made from Wrought iron and a brass ring around the centre.
The lever on the side raises and lowers the candle, these are known as "Hog Scraper" candle sticks meant to be used with beeswax taper candles. the lever scrapes out the excess used/melted wax.
Size: 4" by 4 1/4" round base plate, 7 1/4" tall.
Condition: excellent overall condition. Use and wear marks from age. Some losses to the brass ring. The lever mechanism works as it's supposed to.
