This chair features walnut, molded plywood … Read more A Mid-Century Modern classic, Mr. Chair and matching ottoman by George Mulhauser for Plycraft. This chair features walnut, molded plywood and tufted yellow Naugahyde upholstery. The chair and ottoman are in good vintage condition. The chair is mostly original but has a newly replaced Flo Tilt mechanism to give firm support, while allowing the swivel chair to function properly. New shock mounts were added as well to protect the molded plywood and walnut shell; see photograph. The chair is very comfortable. The Naugahyde appears to be original to the chair and is often referred to as a “coin gold” color. There are minor signs of scuffs or wear to the Naugahyde but except for one small cut to the side of the ottoman, all of the upholstery is free of rips or punctures; see photograph. All the buttons are intact and in place as is the head rest. The walnut, molded plywood frame has minor nicks or scuffs as does the walnut along the base of the legs. The chrome slides under the feet have some patina or pitting; see photographs. The footstool swivels but is not attached to the base. The rod or pedestal keeps the footstool in place while in use, but if one were to lift the ottoman by the top, it would pull free of the base.
