It is extremely rare that a dog was part of the animal menagerie on a carousel, so it just makes this piece so more special..

Hand-crafted in France; circa 1890, the large scale carnival fair / amusement park ride animal is now fashioned as a one-of-a-kind folk art work / sculpture.

The dog is structurally sound enough to stand on its own using the supplied small blocks under its feet, or, it could be mounted on a new floor to ceiling pole by removing the remnant of the existing wood carousel pole.

Good original condition with heavily worn, weathered, distressed patina. Faded polychrome, chippy paint and finish losses, attractive craquelure. Wear and tear consistent with age and indicative of use as an amusement park carnival fair ride that has had many repairs over the years but all adds to the rich overall character, rustic country charm, and elegant antique authenticity.
