The rim features various classical-style figures, … Read more Medium-sized plate made of vitrified enameled ceramic, hand-shaped on a wheel and entirely hand-decorated. The rim features various classical-style figures, including male nudes depicted in various poses. The rim is left white, surrounded by two concentric circles in yellow and green, both marking the rim and the outer edge of the rim. Signed on the back by the artist, with a signature that we unfortunately have not been able to decipher, apparently "Sforia B." Below, the place of provenance, Rome. The plate certainly dates to the Roman Secession period, dating to around 1930, and was likely created by a student of important Roman artists such as Palazzi, Squarciarelli, the Tidei Brothers, Rosati, or Lanni.
