Original hand colored steel engraving from around 1840 depicting the historic village of Partenkirchen, which is now part of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. The image shows the rural character of the village, nestled in the Bavarian Alps at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain.
Garmisch and Partenkirchen were two ancient villages that were merged in 1935 for the 1936 Winter Olympics.
