Overall height 39”. Seat height 26” off floor. Faux snakeskin seat covers on a clear lacquer finished frame. Paint finished 2” finials and tassels showing some paint loss. Sturdy and extremely heavy just acquired from a professionally designed prominent estate ready for the next. Late 20th century. (2 pair available for a set of 4 if desired) A fantastic reproduction example of a 19th century (circa 1865 - 1890) Napoleon III carved "rope-design" side chair. Chairs and stools of this intricate "rope-twist" manner are in general associated with the Parisian upholsterer, A.M.E. Fournier, with one of the "rope-twist stool" or "tabouret" examples on display at the Musée National du Château de Compiègn. Another one of these "rope-twist stool" examples in the manner of Fournier has been donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY in the 1980s by the famous art dealer, Madeleine Lejwa, where it is still currently on display in the 19th Century galleries See less
