Standing up it can be used as a small screen. So many options for this one of a kind piece. Circa 1950. Full dimensions; 40″ x 16” expanding to 19″ wide x 16” high when used as a container or 40” high if used as a screen. This container was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble.
