On offer is this wonderful late 19th century Austrian Bohemian quatrefoil gilded glass bowl attributed to J & L Lobmeyr. This type of glass is often referred to as Vienna, Wien, or Viennese due to Bohemia being part of the Austro Hungarian Empire during the time period of production. The bowl features wheel cut engraved detailing and is ornately gilded with flowers all around. A central cartouche displays a hand-painted enamel courting scene in Jean Antoine Watteau style, in a palette reminiscent of Helena Wolfsohn, which makes this bowl a very fine and luxurious piece of antique European glass. The bowl measures 4.5" in diameter and stands 2.65" tall. Overall, this piece is in lovely condition, as there are no chips or cracks. There is, however, minimal wear to some of the gilding on the leaves which does not detract from this being quite an exquisite and opulent piece of history.
