In the Victorian Era, these kettles on stands were used for keeping water warm near the fire for household use. This one is a brass kettle, most likely English, in a “cannonball” or “toddy” shape. It has a turned wood handle to protect the hand and four ball feet. The kettle sits on a wrought iron tripod stand completed with brass feet and brass surface. The stand has a brass handle used for moving the set from room to room.
The mark on the bottom ( circles) is called a spinning mark. It signifies how the kettle was made rather than the maker.
This is a fine piece of history especially for a period home.
