This elegant Shibata Japanese porcelain plate features a striking scalloped rim and a deep, glossy black glaze that serves as a dramatic canvas for its intricate metallic ornamentation. The central composition showcases a lush cluster of chrysanthemums, rendered in shimmering gold and muted silver tones with delicate violet accents. Flanking the flowers are slender, arching blades of grass and sprigs of berries, while two dragonflies hover gracefully in the upper register, adding a sense of movement to the scene. The reverse of the plate reveals a sturdy, unglazed foot rim surrounding a gold-stamped maker’s mark, which includes the Shibata name and a traditional square seal, certifying its origin as fine Japanese chinaware.
