Chinese porcelain blue and white garden story meiping, a finely formed, plum shape vase with a blue and white glazed … Read more Chinese porcelain blue and white garden story meiping, a finely formed, plum shape vase with a blue and white glazed exterior and and an unglazed, inset base. The short neck of the vase is banded by banana leaf lappets bracketed by two, blue ringlets above and one below. The shoulder of the vase has a wide band of two large, heavenly, cloud cartouches separated by vigorous, ocean waves and spume. Each heavenly cloud cartouche has a prancing qilin soaring over an ocean wave. The shoulder band is bracketed below with two, blue ringlets. The main body of the vase has one, large, heavenly, cloud cartouche with a finely painted, continuous, garden scene of Chinese musicians and attendants amid various plants, trees, xiangyun and gongshi. A blue, horizontal, Da Ming Tian Shun Nian Zhi, reign mark is glazed at the top of the band, surrounded by xiangyun. The bottom of the vase is banded by a wide band of ocean waves and spume matching those at the shoulder. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.
