This sink, along with a couple others, came out of a house in Portland, Maine that was being remodeled. We have been having a string of good luck lately with the sinks we're acquiring, and this one continues the trend. It is in remarkable condition for its 107 years, with virtually no blemishes to be found beyond the ones that were created by the manufacturing process. There are numerous imperfections under the clear enamel coating that are part of the make up of the sink in the form of small "dots", a white patch and a couple rust spots. Detailed top to bottom conditions: Unlike the rest of the piece, the Hoffman & Billings (pat: 1911) waste tube is showing its age some. The porcelain top is chipped in a couple of spots, otherwise it, and the rest of the tube, is good. The spout is very nice for the age. The nickel plating is worn in an area on the right side, exposing the brass underneath, and the rest looks fine with relatively little wear present. The horizontal surface where the faucet resides and around the basin is excellent. There is just the slightest discoloration where the faucet handles were mounted that will be hidden when new ones are installed. The rest of this surface is free of any damage. Aside from a few very light scratches, all is fine. The interior of the basin is in the same condition. There was not a single chip found, and it is good from the top rim down to the bottom. There is a spot in back of the drain hole that is whiter than the rest, but after a close inspection, it was determined that the sink came that way. It cannot be felt, and looks like it's under the enamel. The strainer flange looks good, and is usable. The entire vertical outside of the sink, save for a shallow, almost invisible 0.08" chip on the front, is excellent with no damage or wear found. What looks like a possible scratched spot on the left side is rust from a small bit of iron that got incorporated into the piece when it was made. The underside of the sink is also in fine shape, with no issues found. The slight discoloration that can be seen is caulking/glue residue. There is no damage or wear, and all looks good. The plumbing pieces will need to be at least tightened before they see any water, but otherwise they look good. The bolt that connects the pedestal to the basin is present, but the nut and washer are not. The pedestal is excellent overall. Aside from a few light scratches at the bottom of the backside. It is fine from the top lip down to the bottom edge, where there are small, shallow chipped spots, the largest measuring 0.3". Judging by the condition of the rest of the sink, a great majority of these are not damage. To have this area looking as good as the rest of the piece, a thin line of white paint was applied along the bottom edge, as every chip was discolored from years of floor wax deposits. We normally do not paint he sinks we sell, but this area is far from view, and will basically be untouched when the sink is installed. Please see the pictures for further details.
