Boho chic style meets maximum functionality in this nicely-sized split bamboo tortoiseshell ear-handled planter floor basket. Because of its size, it will accommodate a larger plant (with a liner, which is not included). Expertly handcrafted from slender split bamboo poles in an “open weave” design. The slender vertical split poles are held in place by a bent splint bamboo pole on the interior in the center which has been lashed to the verticals, providing amazing structural integrity. For further support, the verticals are finished with a circular split bamboo band all around the lip and capped off by a decorative pieced border of split bamboo with the same type of band all around the bottom. On the underside, you will also find bamboo nailed-in wood blocks for support to the bottom. Ear handles are shaped and bent bamboo lashes integrated securely into the capped border. Bottom is crafted from solid bamboo wood. Tortoiseshell hues of golden tan, umber and light brown flecks provide a rich medley of color. It measures 14¾” x 15½” x 15” H/W/D (height includes handles; 12¼” high without handles); interior 12” x 13½” x 13¼” H/W/D; weight 2 lbs. 8 oz. Though the label is long gone, this beauty was handcrafted in the Philippines by an unknown maker. Structurally sound and in excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. Photographed in the round to show all sides and nuances of the design and construction throughout.
