Design Plus Gallery presents an Original Acrylic Indian Painting “Bird Headed Shamans” Circa 2002 by Stephen K. McCullough. A full-time professional artist and a voting member of the Choctaw Indian Nation, reflects a powerful fusion of cultural symbolism and contemporary Native American expression. This painting explores spiritual transformation and ancestral presence through striking, otherworldly figures that bridge the human and other realms.
Richly textured and layered, the composition features multiple shades of warm browns, lending depth and movement. The painting is custom framed, ready for display, and stands as a compelling example of McCullough’s commitment to honoring Indigenous identity through fine art. On the backing the artist illustrates and describe of the front symbols in the painting. A "Hopi Rain and six directions of spirits", and "Zia, Emergence from underworld to surface and become "Man"". In good condition, minimal wear from usage.
About Artist:
"Previously working twenty years in the banking business, Stephen McCullough has now altered his lifestyle to a full time career as an artist. Being the twin brother of already longtime, popular artist, Michael C. McCullough, Stephen has also discovered his talent for art. His artwork ranges from Watercolor to Acrylic on canvas. He is recognized for his use of contrasting colors in his special reproductions of old petroglyphs from cliff dwelling walls. It is the process and unpredictability of creating each piece of art that challenges him. "I respect the research that is required to produce artwork from historical Native America and what it stands for." Stephen is a member of the Choctaw Indian Nation in Oklahoma, having been placed on the Roll with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at birth. Several galleries throughout the Southwest represent him.He is also represented by McCullough Fine Arts gallery of Albuquerque."
