Each chair features a tall, rectangular upholstered back crowned by an elegant carved crest with scrolling foliate detail, flanked by fluted uprights that continue through the seat rail. The shaped arms are supported by crisply carved baluster-form arm supports and terminate in padded armrests. The seats are generously proportioned and raised on turned and fluted tapering legs, joined by carved stretchers, all retaining a rich, warm patina developed over centuries of use.
