An iconic image in the works of vintage posters, from the legendary French-Italian artist Leonetto Cappiello.
“Le Thermogene, Engendre la Chaleur et Combat: Toux, Rhumatismes, Points de Cote, etc.”
Translation - “the Thermogenic - Generates Heat and Fights: Cough, Rheumatism, Side Points, etc.”
Early 20th C. - likely printed between 1920 and 1930 poster was created in 1930 by Imprimerie Marci, 30, Rue Bara, Bruxelles 7.
Large - 40" tall by 30.5" wide by 1.5" deep.
Presented in a 1950s/60s black deep molding in the museum / gallery style.
Incredible green, yellow, red, and a plum / black background that is other worldly!
Colors are bright and posters appears to be in very good condition, but frame has not been opened for inspection.
Showing wear on the molding, and the glass and molding could benefit from a cleaning, but presents a very cool Deco era vibe that is appealing as is.
In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...
Mu husband loves posters, and Cappiello is the best of the best in this genre.
We brought this one home MANY years ago, and have enjoyed it very much over a pair of green Chinese Chippendale chairs with white and red upholstery - a colorful nook and one that gets many comments.
For what seems like forever we have said "we'll have it taken apart, get the glass cleaned, and maybe re-frame it..." and we never have. Instead, we've enjoyed its late deco/mid-century vibe - as a piece that our parents might have had, which has only added to its overall authenticity.
So, you have a real opportunity here - an original Cappiello, priced to refresh or to simply enjoy.
