Iwao Akiyama (Japanese, 1921-2014) wood cut in colors on decorative speckled paper, showing a nude female reclining nude and combing hair in black with subtle red highlight.
Limited edition 23 of 200, 1977, title, artist's signature in characters, and red seal at side.
Excellent condition.

Short Bio
Iwao Akiyama studied under Shiko Munakata at the Pacific Art Institute. His style is expressive and his prints look kind of unfinished. The artist's favorite subjects are animals in black and white, sparkled with red. The printing technique used by Iwao Akiyama is the traditional woodblock. The artist is internationally established and well-known. Works of Iwao Akiyama are in the collections of the National Museum of England, the National Art Museum in Victoria in Australia and the Museum of Japanese Art in Haifa, Israel.
