About the Artist – Auguste Moreau
Auguste Moreau (Dijon, 1834 – Malesherbes, 1917) was a French sculptor from the distinguished Moreau family of sculptors. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1861, continuing to exhibit there until 1913. Though he remained more discreet than his brothers, his work is today highly sought after for its elegance, realism, and exceptional detail.
