Emilio Fiaschi, also called Emiliano Fiaschi, was an Italian sculptor. He was born in Volterra and died in Florence, Italy. From 1883 to 1885, he studied at Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and spent most of his career in Florence, Italy. This is a late 19th century carved alabaster figure of a nude girl looking to dexter and leaning on a console table raised on a griffin support, all on a naturalistic circular base. It is perfectly accopanied with a marble pedestal stand that has all the natural veining within its spiral carved column pedestal. The sculpture was comprised in the earthquake in San Francisco, 1906, when it was knocked off its pedestal and the poor girl lost her head. It was restored as soundly as possible with the scar going across her neckline and the marble stand has some discoloration to the platform. Overall, for its age, the two pieces are in good condition.
