This substantial vessel features a graceful tapered body, thick rolled rim and deeply incised horizontal bands with combed decorative motifs, all created while the clay was still wet on the wheel.

The surface exhibits a richly developed patina with mineral accretions, oxidation and wear acquired through generations of use, consistent with traditional agricultural storage for olive oil, grain or water. Unglazed earthenware with visible wheel marks throughout, offering exceptional texture and authenticity.

A striking sculptural object ideal for interior or covered exterior display. Structurally sound and unaltered.

ORIGIN: Mediterranean most likely Southern Italy or Greece

CIRCA: 1750-1850 (exact age is unknown)

MATERIAL: Unglazed terracotta
