This set consists of six original aquatint engravings, hand colored at the time of publication, from Conchology or Natural History of Shells by George Perry, published in London in 1811. Perry’s work is considered one of the most visually distinctive shell studies of the early nineteenth century and remains highly sought after by collectors of natural history prints.

The plates illustrate a variety of shell forms with strong color, clear structure, and balanced compositions. Perry’s use of aquatint allowed for subtle tonal variation, giving these works a depth and richness not found in standard line engravings of the period.

Each print in the set is framed in a gold bamboo moulding and presented with a traditional double mat. All matting materials are acid free, and the framing is finished with conservation clear acrylic, selected to help preserve the color and integrity of the artwork over time.
