The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch. Meandering leafy border. Colours green, black, brown and gold. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-13. The alphabets are seperated by narrow decorative bands. Inscription reads, 'A good education is a great blessing.'. Signed and dated 'E. J. White Aged 7 Yrs. 1845'. A linked octagon border along the bottom contains the signature with a fruit basket either side. Framed in a modern wood frame with clear acrylic in place of glass. Mounting: The sampler is fixed to board. Frame backed with chipboard and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip. See less
