A large Chinese porcelain court ladies garden scene lidded jar, a large, finely formed, round, lidded vessel with gently bulging … Read more A large Chinese porcelain court ladies garden scene lidded jar, a large, finely formed, round, lidded vessel with gently bulging sides, a polychrome glazed exterior and white glazed interior and inset base. The short neck is circled by a band of ornate, polychrome, Ru Yi lappets. The side of the lid is decorated with a floral medallion lattice, bracketed by double red trim lines. The top of the lid is decorated with three of the Eight Precious Things (ba bao)amid flowering leafy vines and ribbons. The body of the vase has polychrome scenes of finely drawn and detailed, court ladies amid a garden of lotus plants, other flowers, Fu bats, musical instruments, and taoist symbols. A blue, Kangxi, reign mark is glazed to the inset base. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century. See less
