Stunning antique needlework sampler signed and dated, c. 1837. The sampler features decorative alphabet embroidery, an inscription from a sun dial, bible reference, large central floral design, animal and crown motifs. The piece has a very nice balanced composition, several different stitch types, and cheerful, vibrant colors, which make it a truly stunning piece of handmade art that is nearly 200 years old! A perfect addition to any antique needlework collection.
The sampler is in an old wooden frame with nice medium to dark tone and beautiful grain. The frame is labelled to back, "Jordan March Company".
It is signed to the bottom, "Mary Woodworth / Worked in the 11th year of her age / March 1st 1837."

Frame Sight: 16.75"W x 17.25"H
Condition: Very nice antique condition. The sampler has some areas of discoloration / browning as well as a few areas of thread loss. The frame has a few chips.
