A pair of framed woodblock prints titled "Tōkaidō Road Series" by Andō Hiroshige depicting different landscapes and post stations of Japan. Labeled on the back, "43 Kuwana", "40 Chiryu", these are two out of 53 Tōkaidō Road stations.
Andō Hiroshige (1797–1858), born Andō Tokutarō, was a master of the Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print tradition. He is widely considered the last great master of this genre, known for transforming it with his focus on poetic, ambient landscapes rather than the typical subjects of beautiful women and actors.
