Design Plus Gallery presents a Chinese Compound Cabinet from the Early 20th Century. The cabinet has two pieces that consist of a tall, lower unit (with hidden compartment in base) and is topped with an upper unit that is composed of solid wood. The cabinets were designed for folded garments since traditional Chinese houses did not offer built-in closets and these types of cabinets were utilized in bedrooms settings. This cabinet has designed carved panels on each of the doors and stands on short corner legs. Condition is consistent with age and use.
