Design Plus Gallery presents an Antique Chinese Compound Cabinet. The 2pc cabinet consists of a tall, lower unit (with hidden compartment in base) is topped by an upper unit or hat chest, both constructed from the same durable wood. These cabinets were designed for the storage of garments, which were folded and laid flat rather than hung. Since traditional Chinese houses did not feature built-in closets, these cabinets were also utilized in bedrooms settings. This elegant cabinet, with carved panels, stands on short corner legs. Condition is consistent with age and use.
