Manufactured by the renowned DRABERT factory in Minden, Germany, and freshly reupholstered, these pieces of furniture are ready for a new home. with their sculptural form, the striking contrast of the upholstery typical of the era, and the meticulous craftsmanship, DRABERT aimed to establish an ambitious piece of furniture in the booming market of the 1950s and 60s. Even today, the design impresses with its vibrant colors and exceptional comfort.
The chairs pictured here combine timeless industrial design with functional elegance. Their distinctive design language is evident in the clean lines of the black lacquered metal frame, which gives the seat a light, floating appearance while simultaneously providing robust stability. The characteristic X-shaped legs not only lend the chairs an architectural presence but also underscore their technical, almost modern, retro charm.
The yellow upholstered seat and back cushions add a vibrant splash of color that contrasts beautifully with the black side panels. The upholstery is solid and comfortable, ideal for extended periods of sitting – perfectly in keeping with the ergonomic tradition for which Drabert is known. The metal armrests, positioned at the sides, complete the functional design and lend the piece an additional graphic structure.
These chairs reflect the quality standards and design philosophy of the Drabert brand: durable, elegant, and with a clear design statement. They are perfect for modern workspaces, creative studios, or stylish living areas where design classics with character are valued.
This rare Drabert waiting group comes from a private collection. Designed in a style typical of the period – strongly inspired by Jean Prouvé and Friso Kramer – Drabert, based in Minden (Westphalia), demonstrated ambition and courage in creating such a modern piece of furniture. Due to its highly complex production, the model unfortunately did not achieve widespread success; no other examples are known to have survived the last 70 years. Our items have been carefully cleaned and the upholstery professionally renewed while preserving the original cover. This piece has an attribution mark,
