Careful polishing did not yield any bleed through of a copper base so it must be very heavy plate. It is hallmarked on the frame under one handle with a series of six indistinct hallmarks, two appearing to be "BM". It may possibly be Belgian or German in origin, late 19th/early 20th century, of impressive size and the highly figured rosewood is beautiful. Some minor shrinkage to the wood insert on both sides and minor scratches commensurate with age and use.. The quality of craftsmanship is evident on the underside. A unique tray. See less
