They are utilitarian pieces, normally showing little or no decoration, but usually featuring some nice construction techniques. This one has a particularly nice etched brass escutcheon plate The case accommodates, on the left, four equal depth square hand-cut dovetailed inset drawers with turned hardwood knobs. On the right there is a flat paneled overlay door that opens a full 180 degrees on French-style fiche hinges. This grants easy access to the two shelves, equally spaced, inside. See less
